One week from today, my youngest daughter, Sophia, and I will join my parents on another mission’s trip to Suriname, my father’s country of birth. This will be a vision trip for a short term mission’s trip I will be able to lead for our church in 2026.
We will be visiting a couple of villages in the interior (jungle) as well as visiting Futu Na Kaba again. Futu Na Kaba is where we built a home for teachers to stay when they come to teach the village children. It is also where we are wanting to do several improvements for the school buildings. I will be scouting the possibilities of helping with those improvements when we return in 2026.
We will also be visiting our local ministry partner’s different ministries: Weid Mijn Lammeren (Feed My Lambs), a free pre-school where Jesus is taught and a free meal is served, Hadassah Homes, a place of refuge for mothers and their children escaping abusive situations. And hopefully a couple of the local businesses that the graduates of the Hadassah Homes have started. (cafe and spa)
Please pray for us as we travel. Pray for health, of course, but most importantly wisdom to see where God is calling us and courage/capacity to obey.
